Glock 19 For Home Defense - Is the Glock 19 Gen 4 perfect for concealed carry? While the fourth generation Glock 19 does have a few hiccups, I was pleased with the results and definitely found a firearm that is great for concealed protection. I'm used to Glocks jamming to begin with, but this model was slimmer and fit perfectly in my concealed carry holster.
Due to its size and plastic parts, it is quite light and feels compact without fail. The Gen 4 used 2 recoil springs instead of just 1, which helped recoil a lot and felt more reliable.
Glock 19 For Home Defense
Speaking of which, Glock is known for its functionality, and the Glock 19 Gen 4 did not disappoint. I have fired a hundred rounds at the range without a single misfire or jam, and have read that some shooters have fired over 50,000 rounds without a problem.

However, the plastic parts were not my favorite as they affected my accuracy. Other than the steel barrel and slide, it felt a bit loose. Even with that, I kept a 4 or 5 inch grouper consistently out to 25 yards, so I was pretty happy.
I would still recommend replacing the plastic sights with something sturdier or using a red dot sight. The gunsmith at my range also recommended lowering the trigger guard so I wouldn't hit my middle finger because the guard is big and clunky.
For left-handed shooters, you can change the magazine release to left-handed. I liked the improved grooves in the handle for better control. The Gen 4 also allows you to adjust the grip to different hands, though the optional grips are still a bit limited.
While the Glock's safety features are mostly internal, you still have to pull the lever with the trigger to fire the Gen 4. Having to make a conscious effort to push the safety in, I don't think you could accidentally fire this weapon.

When it comes to shooting, the trigger pull is 5.5 pounds, but you can always change the trigger for a smoother shot. Personally, I had no problem with the standard trigger, but some people tend to push the gun when shooting with more tension.
I bought the 9mm Gen 4 from the manufacturer for $630 because it came with 3 magazines and a quick loader. You can get it for less elsewhere, but the extras were worth it. The 15-turn springs are a bit stiff, but leaving them fully loaded for a few days worked.
If you want a bigger magazine you can find a 17-round clip, but I would just say bring extra magazines. It should be noted that magazines from other sources didn't work as well in the Gen 4, so I'll stick with the manufacturer's magazines for best reliability.
Overall, the Glock 19 Gen 4 is a solid, solid addition. Due to control of size and recoil, accuracy is not an issue for home defense or concealed carry. If you want to test the Gen 4 in target or competitive shooting, the customization options make it possible.

Part of owning a castle meant defending it, and today is no different. Instead of catapults and crossbows, firearms are the defense tools of modern "fortresses". Before learning how to defend your castle, you must first choose a weapon.
Each has advantages and disadvantages. In this article, we will focus on pistols. More specifically, the five best Glocks for home defense. Let us begin!
If you want a reliable, battle-tested weapon for home defense, look no further than the Glock 17. Used for police, military, self-defense, and competition shooting, this gun can do it all. With an impressive seventeen-round magazine, you won't have to worry about running out of ammo in a life-or-death situation. The Glock 17 has a 4.48-inch barrel, which is longer than a typical concealed pistol. (In general, a longer barrel equals better accuracy.) At the same time, the barrel is not so long that it is difficult to control. In short, the Glock 17 is an excellent, battle-proven weapon.
Setting Up A Dedicated Home Defense Handgun
If you want a Glock with a bit more punch, try the Glock 32. In the 1990s, Sig Sauer designed a new cartridge, the .357 Sig. The round was designed to prevent jamming issues while still being more powerful than the standard 9mm cartridge. The Glock 32 was designed to fire these more reliable and powerful rounds. Although Glocks are known for their reliability, the Glock 32 is still more reliable than other Glocks due to the special ammunition it uses. With a thirteen-round magazine, the Glock 32 has a generous magazine capacity and packs a larger-than-average 9mm punch. So if you need to stop an intruder in your home, you can't go wrong with the mighty Glock 32.
The Glock 34 is designed for competition shooting. As such, it features a lightning-fast muzzle velocity and ear-to-ear firing accuracy. Equipped with a 5.31-inch barrel, the Glock 34 has the longest sight radius and highest muzzle velocity of any Glock. The wide sight radius makes it easy to line up for an accurate shot. High muzzle velocities are important for certain defensive ammunition (such as hollow point bullets). The Glock 34 comes with a standard seventeen round magazine. The pistol cutout allows the owner to easily install the optic. Additionally, the large size of the Glock 34 reduces recoil, making it less "sharp" when fired. With that being said, the Glock 34 is more than adequate for your home defense needs.
The "gold" of handguns, there's almost nothing the Glock 19 can't do. Simple, effective and easy to use, the rugged Glock 19 has been a favorite of gun owners for years. With over five generations of the Glock 19, you'll be able to find the version that's best for you. Different gun owners prefer different generations, but most will recommend Gen 4 or Gen 5. (Click here for full Gen 4 review.) The Glock 19 comes with (new) three 15-round magazines. If the gun doesn't fit your hand, you can change the "back straps" on the grip to make the grip larger or smaller to fit your hand size. The long grip on the Glock 19 means you'll be able to control the recoil of this pistol with ease. The Glock 19 boasts impressive accuracy without breaking the bank. This is a fantastic pistol, especially for new shooters who may not be sure what features they are looking for. The Glock 19 does everything right.
The Glock 19x is a variant of the Glock 19 designed to replace the Beretta 92 as the US Army's sidearm. As such, Glock designed the 19x for close range tactical shooting. The 19x features a 4-inch barrel that is easy to fire and use in tight spaces. While not as accurate at range as the Glock 34, the 19x is optimized for close-range tactical combat. With a reserve of seventeen rounds, the 19x has enough ammunition to handle a home defense situation without needing to reload. The 19x comes standard with steel night sights. These night sights make it very easy to line up shots even in low light conditions. Designed for the military, this pistol is perfect for home defense.

In his spare time, he checks out optics on his Scopes Field blog. Elsewhere on the blog (such as here), both John and I have expressed our affinity for the Glock platform in general and the Glock 19 in particular. However, I thought it was worth writing an article on the Glock 19 specifically. Now let me be clear. I'm not saying the Glock 19 is the best pistol ever made. it's not even the best weapon currently available. Each individual must determine his own needs when it comes to firearms and then purchase accordingly. Let me also emphasize here that our focus in this article and the majority of the blog is self-defense against bipedal predators.
What makes the Glock 19 such a great self defense pistol is that it has an amazing combination of features. In no particular order, it's simple, reliable/durable, "perfect" size, lightweight, accurate,
